THE FIRST PREDICTION
Matthew 16:21-23

21 From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must
go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders
and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

22 And Peter took him and began to rebuke him, saying, "God forbid,
Lord! This shall never happen to you."
23 But he turned and said to Peter, "Get behind
me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me; for you are not on the side of God,
but of men." |
Mark 8:31-33

31 And he began to teach them that the Son
of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief
priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

31 for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, "The
Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill
him; and when he is killed, after three days he will rise."
32 But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid
to ask him. |

and they will condemn him to death,

walking ahead of them; and they were amazed, and those who followed were
afraid. And taking the twelve again, he began to tell them what was to
happen to him,

And now I have told you before it takes place, so that when it does take
place, you may believe.

I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming.
He has no power over me;

but I do as the Father has commanded me, so that the world may know that
I love the Father. Rise, let us go hence. |
