Matthew 5
11 Blessed are you when men revile you and
persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.
12 Rejoice and
be glad, for your reward
is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before
you.
Matthew 5
43 You have heard
that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'
44 But I say
to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
45 so that you
may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for he makes his sun rise
on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.
46 For if you
love those who love you, what
reward
have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?
47 And if you
salute only your brethren, what more are you doing than others? Do not
even the Gentiles do the same?
48 You, therefore,
must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
Matthew 6
1 Beware of practicing
your piety before men in order to be seen by them; for then you will have
no reward from
your Father who is in heaven.
2 Thus, when
you give alms, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the
synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by men. Truly,
I say to you, they have received their reward.
3 But when you
give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
4 so that your
alms may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward
you.
5 And when you
pray, you must not be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray
in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by men.
Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
6 But when you
pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is
in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward
you.
Matthew 6
16 And when you
fast, do not look dismal, like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their
faces that their fasting may be seen by men. Truly, I say to you, they
have received their reward.
17 But when you
fast, anoint your head and wash your face,
18 that your
fasting may not be seen by men but by your Father who is in secret; and
your Father who sees in secret will reward
you.
Matthew 10
40 He who receives
you receives me, and he who receives me receives him who sent me.
41 He who receives
a prophet because he is a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward,
and he who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man shall
receive a righteous man's reward.
42 And whoever
gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water because he is
a disciple, truly, I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.
Mark 9
38 John
said to him, "Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and
we forbade him,
because he was not following us."
39 But Jesus said,
"Do not forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be
able soon after to speak evil of me.
40 For he that
is not against us is for us.
41 For truly,
I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear
the name of Christ, will by no means lose his reward. |
Luke 6
22 Blessed are you when men hate you, and when
they exclude you and revile you, and cast out your name as evil, on account
of the Son of man!
23 Rejoice in
that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward
is great in heaven; for so their fathers did to the prophets.
Luke 6
27 But I say to
you that hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,
28 bless those
who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.
Luke 6
32 If you love
those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those
who love them.
33 And if you
do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even
sinners do the same.
34 And if you
lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you?
Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
35 But love your
enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward
will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for he is kind to
the ungrateful and the selfish.
36 Be merciful,
even as your Father is merciful.
Luke 9
49 John answered, "Master, we saw a man casting out demons in your
name, and we forbade him, because he does not follow with us."
50 But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid him;
for he that is not against you is for you." |
