A Prayer
of Jesus
I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and
understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will.

A Little Flock?

When you read the Words of Jesus, it helps to ask yourself questions in order to search for the answers.  In this word compilation of the word "flock" we offer the start of some possible questions in hopes that you will look for those answers.  We do provide our witness to these questions at the end of the word compilation, yet we encourage trying to find them first yourself!

Some questions to ask yourself...
  1. What is promised to the Little Flock?
  2. Who came to lead them to this eternal Zoë-life?
  3. Who belongs in the Little Flock?
  4. Whom does the Little Flock follow/obey?
  5. Whom does the Little Flock flee from?
  6. What does the Father command of Jesus to do for the Little Flock?
  7. What does Jesus do for the Little Flock which merits agape-love from the Father for doing it?
  8. What will become of the Little Flock (while in this world)?
  9. Where does the Little Flock store treasures?
  10. What is the Father delighted about giving to the Little Flock?

The Prediction of Peter's Denial / Matthew 26

[31] Then Jesus says to them: You will all be stumbled in me in this night. For it is written: I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.
[32] But after I arise I will go before you to Galilee.
[33] But answering Peter said to him: If all be stumbled in you, I will never be stumbled.
[34] Jesus said to him: Truly I say to you that in this night before the cock crows thrice you will renounce me.
[35] But Peter says to him: If I must die with you, I will not renounce you. And all the disciples said likewise.

Exhortation Not to Worry / Luke 12

[22] But he said to his disciples: Because of this I say to you: Be not being anxious for your psyche-life, what you shall eat, nor for your body what you shall wear.
[23] For the psyche-life is more than food and the body [more] than clothing.
[24] Consider the ravens that neither sow nor reap, to whom is neither store nor granary, and God feeds them. How much more are you worth than the birds.
[25] But who among you being anxious is able upon his stature to add [a] cubit?
[26] If therefore you are incapable of the least, why are you anxious concerning the rest?
[27] Consider the lily, which neither spins nor weaves, yet I say to you even Solomon in all his glory was not clothed as one of these.
[28] So if God thus clothes the grass being in the field today and in the furnace being thrown tomorrow, how much more you, O little-faiths?
[29] And you be not seeking what you shall eat and what you shall drink, and be not being anxious.
[30] For all these do the nations of the world seek. But your father knows that you need these [things].
[31] Rather be seeking his kingdom, and all these [things] will be added.

[32] Be not fearing, O little flock for your father delights to give to you the kingdom.
[33] Sell your possessions and give to charitable giving. Make for yourselves [a] purse not becoming old, [a] treasure inexhaustible in the heavens, where thief can not draw nigh nor moth spoil,
[34] for where your treasure is, there also will be your heart.

Jesus as the Good Shepherd / John 10
[1] Truly truly I say to you, the [one] not coming in through the gate into the sheep-pen but coming up from elsewhere, that [one] is [a] thief and [a] robber.
[2] But the [one] coming in through the gate is [the] shepherd of the sheep.
[3] The gatekeeper opens [the gate] to this [one], and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name, and he leads them out.
[4] When he has brought out all his own, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice.
[5] They will not follow [the voice belonging] to [a] stranger, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.
[6] Jesus told them this parable; but these [ones] did not know what it was that he was speaking to them.

[7] So Jesus said again, Truly truly I say to you that I am the gate of the sheep.
[8] All who came before me are thieves and robbers. But the sheep have not heard them.
[9] I am the gate. If anyone enter through me, he will be saved, and he will come in and will go out and will find pasture.
[10] The thief does not come except in order that he steal and slaughter and destroy; I came in order that they have zoe-life and have [it] exceedingly.
[11] I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd appoints his psyche-life in behalf of the sheep.
[12] But the hired-hand also not being shepherd, of whom the sheep are not his own, he sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees—and the wolf seizes them and scatters [them]—
[13] [he flees] because he is [a] hired-hand and the sheep are not [a] concern to him.
[14] I am the good shepherd, and I know mine and mine know me,
[15] just as the father knows me, and I know the father, and I lay down my psyche-life in behalf of the sheep.
[16] And I have other sheep that are not of this sheep-pen, and I must lead [these], and they will hear my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd.
[17] Because of this the father agape-loves me, because I lay down my psyche-life, in order that I again receive it.
[18] No one takes it from me, but I dedicate it myself. I have authority to dedicate it, and I have authority to again receive it; this commandment I received from my father.

Here we offer our witness to the questions presented at the beginning of this word compilation...
  1. Eternal Zoë-life.
  2. Jesus.
  3. Those who hear the voice of Jesus.
  4. Jesus, their Shepherd.
  5. A stranger's voice.
  6. To give his psyche-life in order to receive it again (eternal life).
  7. He gave his psyche-life on behalf of the sheep.
  8. They will be scattered, yet they will be one.
  9. Not in this world, but in the heavens with the Father.
  10. His Kingdom.
Through abiding in the Words of Jesus, he teaches the Little Flock to follow him by dedicating their psyche-lives in this world in order to receive eternal Zoë-life with the Father in the heavens.

Do you know what it means to dedicate your psyche-life in this world for eternal Zoë-life with the Father?

We invite you to email us and/or post on our VOJ Forum your response to this question.
