The
False Teaching
From
Moses: And on the seventh day
God finished his work which he had done, and he rested on the
seventh day from all his work which he had done (Ge.
2:2 RSV). And the LORD said to
Moses, "Say to the
people of Israel,`You shall keep my sabbaths, for this is a sign
between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that
I, the LORD, sanctify you. You shall keep the sabbath,
because it is holy for you; every one who profanes it shall be put to
death; whoever does any work on it, that soul shall be cut off from
among his people. Six days shall work be done, but the
seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the LORD; whoever does
any work on the sabbath day shall be put to death. Therefore the people
of Israel shall keep the sabbath, observing the
sabbath through- out their generations, as a per- petual covenant. It
is a sign for ever between me and the people of Israel that in six
days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he
rested, and was refreshed (Ex.31:12-17
RSV).

Exposing
the Error
The absolute base for Sabbath
observance is the stipulation that God finished His work and rested on
the seventh (Sabbath) day. If he did not do this, the basis for the
Sabbath is non existent. Genesis (1:16) also
tells us that, on the fourth day, he
made the stars also. His work was finished on the seventh day,
we are told, so that there is no more star making. This sounded
reasonable until the advent of science and
the instruments that reveal the continuing birth of stars
throughout the cosmos. Take a look at this view
revealing a vast region of star making in the constellation Orion,
as seen through the .9 meter telescope on Kitt Peak. This is factual
and not debatable -- stars are being made this day, by a continuing
process. The work of creation was and is not finished. The same
is truly said of what is on the earth also, including man (Adam). We
are not the same as humans of a million years past, nor of a million
years hence, should we remain then. Yes, as it had a beginning, so also
the creation will have an end, but not yet.

Declaring
the Truth
The Son of
man is Lord
of the Sabbath
And he was saying to
them: The Sabbath came into being
because of man, and not man because of the Sabbath, so that the son of
man is Lord of the Sabbath also (Mk.2:27,28 FNT).
And he says to them: Is it
permissible on the Sabbaths to do [a] good [thing] or to do evil, to
save [a]
psyche-life or to kill? But they keep silence. And
having looked around at them with anger, being grieved concerning the
hardness of their hearts, he says to the man: Be stretching out the hand. And
he stretched out and his hand was restored (Mk.3:4,5 FNT).
Therefore it is
allowed on the Sabbath to do good (Mt.12:12 FNT).
So, when is it lawful to do evil or
to kill? And when is it not
lawful to do good? With these words the Lord of the
Sabbath makes the Sabbath to be the same as any other day. He did this
because he knew God had never rested, as science has now confirmed, and
he said so in these words: My
father works until now and I [also] work (Jn.5:17 FNT).
Again, For the Father loves the Son, and shows
him all that he himself is
doing (Jn.5:20FNT).
