The False Teaching
Peace on Earth
The angels visited shepherds by night
and heralded the birth of Jesus: . . .on earth peace! Throughout
Christendom men sing it at Christmas time, in the words of Wesley's Carol:
Hark, the herals angels sing,
Glory to the new born king.
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled!
Pope
John Paul II speaks as follows:At the dawn of the new Millennium,
we wish to propose once more the message of hope which comes from the stable
of Bethlehem: God loves all men and women on earth and gives them the hope
of a new era, an era of peace. His love, fully revealed in the Incarnate
Son, is the foundation of universal peace.
Add to this the voices of millions
who hope for peace on earth in a millennial reign. Alas,
THIS TEACHING IS FALSE!

Exposing the Error
Isa.57[21]
There
is no peace, says my God, for the wicked.
Jer.5[30] An appalling and horrible
thing has happened in the land:[31] the prophets prophesy falsely,
and the priests rule at their direction; my people love to have it so,
but what will you do when the end comes?
Jer.6[13] For from the least
to the greatest of them, every one is greedy for unjust gain; and from
prophet to priest, every one deals falsely.[14] They have healed
the wound of my people lightly, saying, `Peace, peace,' when there is no
peace.
History surely repeats; Isaiah and Jeremiah
are as relevant today as in ancient Israel. Men never learn!
After two millennia of this error, the lessons of history and the words
of Jesus seem lost on the human race. Look at the wars of history
-- those of the recent century the most terrible! And now, a new
century and a new war! |
Declaring the Truth
Jesus said:Matt.10[34]
Do
not think that I have come to bring peace on earth; I have not come to
bring peace, but a sword.[35] For I have come to set a man against
his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against
her mother-in-law; [36] and a man's foes will be those of his own
household.
Matt.24[6] And you will hear
of wars and rumors of wars; see that you are not alarmed; for this must
take place but the end is not yet.[7] For nation will rise against
nation, and kingdom against kingdom,. . .
[14] And this gospel of the
kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, as a testimony to
all nations; and then the end will come.
John.14[27] Peace I leave with
you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let
not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
