A Prayer
of Jesus
I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise
and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will

(Guest Paper by Brother Keith Winterowd)
   SOME OF
THE GENERAL COMMANDMENTS
OF JESUS

Matthew 22:36-40
:36  Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law?
:37  Jesus said to him, You must love the Lord YHWH your God with
your whole heart, and with your whole soul, and with your whole mind.
:38  This is the first and great commandment.
:39  And the second is like it, You must love your neighbor as yourself.
:40  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

          There is a Choice The First or The Last Commandment
                                              Either/Or

*For those who want to make these commandments optional they have the Last Commandment that is not optional:

Matt 7:23
:23  And yet, then I will confess to them, I never knew you: Depart from
me, you that work iniquity (or, lawlessness, works that lead to death)
Matt 25:41
Then he will say also to them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

RECEIVED ON ONE MOUNT
FULFILLED ON ANOTHER

Moses went up on the mountain to receive the law from Lord YHWH. Jesus was sent by the Father to go up on the mountain to present, simplify and fulfill (Mt.5:17) through him that which Moses and the prophets received and complexified.

Jesus presented the Father's simplified, confirmed, fulfilled and strengthened general commandments to those that are to be his children and heirs to the kingdom of God in heaven. (Mt.5:20)

Matthew 5
Matt 5:1  And seeing the multitudes (crowds), he went up into a mountain: and when  he was set (or, ready, seated), his disciples came to him:

JESUS OPENED HIS MOUTH AND TEACHINGS FLOWED OUT

HOW TO LOVE GOD

GOD'S WAY TO HAPPINESS

Matt 5:2  And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Matt 5:3  Blessed [Happy] [are] the poor in spirit:(or, poor in pride, the unassuming, humble from the Aramaic Peshitta MSS; or, who know they have great spiritual need or,  conscious of their spiritual need from W/H, or of a quiet spirit from FF ) for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 5:4  Blessed [Happy] [are] they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Matt 5:5  Blessed [Happy] [are] the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Matt 5:6  Blessed [Happy] [are] they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Matt 5:7  Blessed [Happy] [are] the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Matt 5:8  Blessed [Happy] [are] the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Matt 5:9  Blessed [Happy][are] the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Matt 5:10  Blessed [Happy] [are] they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matt 5:11  Blessed [Happy] are you, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. {falsely: Gr. lying}
Matt 5:12  Rejoice, [Enjoy yourself you happy ones: mine] and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

HOW TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBOR

WE ARE THE SALT OF THE EARTH

Matt 5:13  You are the salt of the earth: but if the salt has lost its strength, how will it get its saltiness restored ? It is no longer good for anything, but to be thrown out, and to be trampled on by men.

WE ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Matt 5:14  You are the light of the world. A city that is situated on a mountain cannot  be hidden.
Matt 5:15  People light a candle not to put it under a bushel basket, but on a candlestick; and it gives light to all those that are in the house. {a bushel: the word in the original signifies a measure containing about a pint less than a peck}
Matt 5:16  Likewise, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

JESUS CAME TO FULFILL NOT DESTROY

Matt 5:17  Do not think that I have come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I have not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
Matt 5:18  For truly I say to you that sooner would heaven and earth pass away, than for one jot or one tittle (the accent, umlauts and emphatic marks on words to demonstrate and dress the linquistic sense) to pass away from the law by any means and all be things not take place.
Matt 5:19  Who ever therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men to do so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but who ever shall do and teach [them], that same one shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

RIGHTEOUS DOING

Matt 5:20  For I say to you, That except your righteousness shall exceed [the righteousness] of the scribes and Pharisees, you shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

COMMENTS ON DISPUTES

Matt 5:21  You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not kill; and who ever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: {by: or, to}
Matt 5:22  But I say to you, That who ever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and who ever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but who ever shall say, You fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. {Raca: that is, Vain fellow}
Matt 5:23  Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you;
Matt 5:24  Leave there your gift before the altar, and go your way; first be reconciled to (make your peace with) your brother, and then come and offer your gift.
Matt 5:25  Agree with your adversary quickly, while you are on the [way to court] with him; lest (that somehow) at any time the adversary deliver you to the judge, and the judge deliver you to the officer, and you be thrown into prison.
Matt 5:26  Truly I say to you, You shall by no means come out of there, until you have paid the very last farthing (coin of the least value).

COMMENTS ON SEXUAL INTERACTIONS

Matt 5:27  You have heard that it was said by them of old time, You shall not commit adultery:
Matt 5:28  But I say to you, That who ever looks on a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

COMMENTS ON OFFENSIVE BEHAVIOR

Matt 5:29  And if your right eye offend you, [stop looking at it: mine] pluck it out, and cast [it] from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not [that] your whole body should be thrown into hell. {offend...: or, do cause you to offend}
Matt 5:30  And if your right hand offend you, cut it off, [stop holding it or feeling it: mine] and  throw [it] from you: for it is profitable for you that one of your members should perish, and not [that] thy whole body should be thrown into hell.

ABOUT DIVORCE

Matt 5:31   It has been said, Who ever shall put away [divorce] his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement:
Matt 5:32  But I say to you, That who ever shall put away [divorced] his wife, except for the cause of fornication [because she has already committed adultery], causes her to commit adultery: and who ever shall marries a divorced person commits adultery.

OATHS

Matt 5:33  Again, you have heard that it has been said by them of old time, You shall not swear yourself without performing but pay your vows to the Lord YHWH. thine oaths:
Matt 5:33  Again, you have heard that it has been said by them of old time, You shall not swear yourself, but shall perform to the Lord your oaths:
Matt 5:34  But I say to you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:
Matt 5:35  Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
Matt 5:36  Neither shall you swear by your head, because you can not make one hair white or black.
Matt 5:37  But let your communication be, Yes, yes; no, no: for what ever is more than these come from evil.

GENERAL COMMANDMENTS

Matt 5:38  You have heard that it has been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth:
Matt 5:39  But I say to you, That you resist not evil: but who ever shall strike you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.
Matt 5:40  And if any man will sue you at the law, and take away your coat, let him have [your] cloke also.
Matt 5:41  And who ever shall compel you to go a mile, go with him two.

GIFTS

Matt 5:42  Give to him that asks you, and from him that would borrow from you, don't you turn him away.

ENEMIES AND LOVED ONES

Matt 5:43  You have heard that it has been said, You shall love your neighbor, and hate your enemy.
Matt 5:44  But I say to you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which spitefully use you, and persecute you;
Matt 5:45  That you may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sende rain on the just and on the unjust.
Matt 5:46  For if you love them which love you, what reward have you? Do not even the publicans (bureaucrats) the same?
Matt 5:47  And if you salute your brothers only, what do you more [than others]? Do not even the publicans so?

STANDARD OF EXCELLENCE

Matt 5:48  Be you therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect

GIVING
Matthew 6
Matt 6:1   Pay attention that you do not give your alms before men, to be seen by them: otherwise you have no reward of your Father which is in heaven. {alms: or, righteousness} {of your: or, with your}
Matt 6:2  Therefore when you do [your] alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward. {do not...: or, cause not a trumpet to be sounded}
Matt 6:3  But when you do alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand does:
Matt 6:4  That your alms may be in secret: and your Father which sees in secret himself shall reward you openly.

PRAYING

Matt 6:5  And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites [are]: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Truly I say to you, They have their reward.
Matt 6:6  But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father which is in secret; and your Father which sees in secret shall reward you openly.
Matt 6:7  But when you pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen [do]: for they think that they shall be heard for their length of speaking.
Matt 6:8  Be not you therefore like them: for your Father knows what things you have need  of, before you ask him.

PRAYER FOR HIS DISCIPLES

Matt 6:9  For that reason you people pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name is set apart and santified. [only you can have that name]
Matt 6:10  Your kingdom [has] come. Your will [is being] be done on earth, as [it is] in heaven.
Matt 6:11  Give us this day our daily bread.
Matt 6:12  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Matt 6:13  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the one. (note: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever..is not included in the most ancient MSS and reliable wittnesses).

FORGIVING AND FORGIVENESS

Matt 6:14  For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
Matt 6:15  But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

NOT DOING (FASTING)

Matt 6:16  Moreover when you fast, do not be, like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear to men to fast. Most truly I say to you, They have their reward.
Matt 6:17  But you, when you fast, oil you [hair] and your head, and wash your face;
Matt 6:18  That you appear not to men to fast (not do), but to your Father which is in secret: and your Father, which sees in secret, shall reward you openly.
.
TREASURES AND SAVINGS ACCOUNT IN HEAVEN

Matt 6:19  Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust do corrupt, and where thieves break in and steal:
Matt 6:20  But lay [save] up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust does corrupt, and where thieves do not break through [your protection] nor steal:
Matt 6:21  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

GETTING A VISION

Matt 6:22  The light of the body is the eye: if therefore your eye be simple (sound) your whole body shall be full of light.
Matt 6:23  But if your eye is evil (diseased), then your whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great [is] that darkness!

ONE MASTER AND THE LOVE HATE PARADOX

Matt 6:24  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon (Riches).

RELY ON THE FATHER'S PROVISONS

Matt 6:25  Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life, what you shall eat, or what you shall drink; nor yet for your body, what you  shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?
Matt 6:26  Look! The fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much better than they?
Matt 6:27   Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit to his stature?
Matt 6:28  And why take you thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
Matt 6:29  And yet I say to you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Matt 6:30  Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, [shall he] not much more [clothe] you, O you of little faith.
Matt 6:31  Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Where are we going to get clothed?
Matt 6:32  (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.

FIRST THINGS FIRST

Matt 6:33  But you people keep on seeking first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.
Matt 6:34  For this reason take no thought for the next day, for tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient for each day is its own badness. (or, the evil of that day). [Live one day at a time]

JUDGING AXIOMS

Matthew 7
Matt 7:1  Judge not, that you are not judged.
Matt 7:2  For with what judgment you judge, you shall be judged: and with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Matt 7:3  And why are you looking at the mote (straw) that is in your brother's eye, but you don't consider looking at beam (log) that is in your own eye?
Matt 7:4  Or how can you say to your brother, Let me pull the mote [strw] out of your eye; and, Look! A beam [log] is in your own eye?
Matt 7:5  You hypocrite, first throw the beam out of your own eye; and then you will see clearly how to cast out the mote out of your brother's eye.

GRANT PEACE TO THOSE WORTHY TO RECEIVE

Matt 7:6  Give not that which is holy to the dogs, neither are you to cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn around and rend (rip you open) you.

ASKING AND SEEKING

Matt 7:7  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be open to you:
Matt 7:8  For every one that asks receives and he that seeks finds;and to him that knocks it shall be opened.
Matt 7:9  Or what man is there of you, whom if his son askfor bread, will he give him a stone?
Matt 7:10  Or if he ask for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
Matt 7:11  If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

ACTIONS TOWARD OTHERS

Matt 7:12  Therefore all things what ever you would [like] that men should do to you, do you likewise to them: for this is in fact the law and the prophets.

THE WAY

Matt 7:13  Enter you in at the strait (narrow) gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leads to destruction, and many there are who go in that way: {strait: or, narrow}
Matt 7:14  Because strait (narrow) the gate is, and narrow (cramped) the way is, which leads off in to life, and few there are that find it. {Because: or, How}

BEWARE OF STRANGERS

Matt 7:15  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
Matt 7:16  You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Matt 7:17  Even so every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.
Matt 7:18  A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither [can] a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Matt 7:19  Every tree that doesn't bring not forth good fruit is chopped down, athrownast into the fire.
Matt 7:20  Really then by their fruits you shall know them.
Matt 7:21  Not every one that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that does the will of my Father which is in heaven will
Matt 7:22  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name and in your name have thrown out devils, and in your name performed many  powerfull works?

THE LAST COMMANDMENT

Matt 7:23  And yet, then will I confess to them, I never knew you: Depart from me, you that work iniquity (or, lawlessness, works that lead to death doers)

LISTENING TO AND FOLLOWING JESUS

Matt 7:24  Therefore who ever hears these sayings of mine, and does them, I will liken him uo a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
Matt 7:25  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
Matt 7:26  And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
Matt 7:27  And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

JESUS THE AUTHORITY COMES DOWN FROM THE MOUNTAIN

Matt 7:28  And it came about that  when Jesus had finished  this discourse, the people were astonished at his teaching:
Matt 7:29  For he taught them as [one] having authority, and not as the scribes.

Matthew 8
Matt 8:1  When he had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him.
